Highlighting the year 2000 for John Growney was undoubtedly being named Stock Contractor of the Year.  Voted on by his peers, John adds this cherished award to his list of achievements gathered over the years.  Don Kish, creator of the Buckin' Best@ Bull Breeding Program, has been instrumental in the achievement of this prestigious award.  The combination of Don's well recognized bull breeding program and the horse breeding program, now producing NFR horses, has shown that Growney Brothers is indeed a notch above the rest. Dedicated to the health and care of this award winning stock, John knows that the safety, welfare, and future of these animals will always be his top priority.

The National Finals Rodeo (NFR), held in Las Vegas each December, spotlights the top stock and the top personnel in rodeo today.  Always well represented, John boasts a new member to the NFR team with the selection of a Growney bred and raised horse, #308 Canadian Sunrise.
This, along with 3 additional horses (#30 Paula's Pride, #L83 Untouchable, and #08 Mojo) serves to reinforce what many already know, that Growney Brothers is indeed a leader in the stock contracting world.

Looking back, the history of Growney Brothers Rodeo cannot be accurately portrayed without mentioning the legacy of Red Rock.  Although a legend before his death in 1994, Red Rock is well known as the 1987 PRCA Bull of the Year and a 1990 inductee to the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. The hit movie '8 Seconds' documents much of Red Rocks' career as it portrays the 'Challenge of the Champions' with the great bull rider Lane Frost.

Looking towards the future, John is excited about what lies ahead.  Hard working and progressive committees help insure the future of rodeo and preserve a part of our great American heritage.  It gives the children, our future, the chance to see a sport as individual and great as Red Rock himself.  John, along with the help of his 'guardian angels' and 'the luck of the Irish', assures us he will continue to promote this heritage and produce quality rodeos for many years to come!
